Welcome to my online portfolio.
My artistic journey spans many decades, mediums and places. Painting and etching studies in Paris, mixed media workshops at Haystack and residencies at the Vermont Studio Center, are a few examples of my desire to remain a lifelong learner. Learning something new— about art, about the world— gives me creative energy. I am a person who likes to explore the boundaries between traditional forms. Science and poetry—both inform me, as does healing through art, combining steel and paper, words and images. As you consider the various media represented here, know that there is a unifying spirit that guides me. It begins with a profound gratitude for the natural world, and has lately impelled me to bring to light the human forces that are destroying the fragile connections on this living planet: horseshoe crabs and migrating red knots, sea stars and endangered kelp forests in the oceans, tree frogs and their habitats on land, to name a few. We are part of it all, and dependent on this fragile web.
“All the life of the planet is interrelated…” in Rachel Carson’s prescient words, drives my thinking & making.
